Common Woman Cabaret is BACK!
5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 10 at The Bar Durham

This show shines the spotlight on the individual talents of the singers who make up this great community chorus. This is a fun, casual event, with a full bar, and a DJ'd dance afterwards. Quiet No More
8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at the Carolina Theatre of Durham

Common Woman Chorus and Triangle Gay Men's Chorus partner with the Triad Pride Women's and Men's Choruses to present a new work, Quiet No More, commemorating the 50 year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. This work celebrates those who rose up and fought back during this pivotal moment in history which sparked the LGBT rights movement. Quiet No More, commissioned by the New York Gay Men's Chorus and Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, will have performances by choruses throughout the US in 2019, the largest collaboration in the history of LGBTQ choruses.

Still I Rise
7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17 | Eno River UU Fellowship - Durham, NC

Since 1983 the Common Woman Chorus has been singing as a beacon for justice, equality and love. We invite you to celebrate this evening as we look forward to how we are growing and rising up as a part of the community in Durham, North Carolina.

This full evening will include a silent auction, a magical concert, and a celebratory reception. Keep an eye out here for more details!

Have you ever wanted to hit the open road? Join us for a journey to places familiar and adventurous, and experience the feeling of nostalgia when you’re longing for home. You’ll be California Dreamin’ as you Roam along Route 66, before you Get Out The Map and finally take The Road Home. Come with us to catch your own case of Wanderlust.

The Common Woman Chorus and friends take the stage for an afternoon of entertainment. From blues, Broadway, and jazz, to rock, folk, soul and more -- these girls are on fire! With a little comedy thrown in for good measure, this show shines the spotlight on the individual talents of the singers who make up this great community chorus. What better way to segue from Super Bowl weekend to Valentine's Day?

Join us for a fun Sunday afternoon at the Pinhook and help us raise money for our upcoming chorus trip to participate in the Sister Singers Network Festival; In July, we'll join 20 other like-minded choruses in Grand Rapids, Michigan to sing, learn, and celebrate "More Than Music Here."

Fall 2017

No One Is Alone
7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 18 | Eno River UU Fellowship - Durham, NC

Loneliness can take many forms. In our fall concert, The Common Woman Chorus will take you on a journey through isolation, loss, and feeling alone - and evolve into songs of community, hope, and inclusion. From Emily Dickinson and Ysaye Barnwell to John Lennon and Lady Gaga, this music brings voices and forces together to prove that truly, no one is alone.

Life is a Cabaret: An Evening of Broadway
7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20 | Eno River UU Fellowship - Durham, NC

"Put down the knitting, the book, and the broom" and come join the Common Woman Chorus on May 20 for an evening of tunes from Broadway musicals. We'll run the gamut from classic to edgy, from "Kiss Me, Kate" and "Funny Girl" to "The Wiz" and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." Your toes will tap, your heart will swell, you'll dance in your seat. There'll be some old favorites and more than a few surprises along the way!

Fall 2016

Make the Hear You
7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 12 | Eno River UU Fellowship - Durham, NC

Last Spring we explored the power of music and this Fall we'll dig into the power of us. While it feels like we're constantly battling injustices in the world, we're reminded that in unity and solidarity we can be one and we can be loud and we can be powerful.

  • Admission is free. Donations are accepted at the door.
  • A Silent Auction will be held before the concert and during intermission to raise funds for the chorus. Bring your checkbooks or cash to make donations!
  • A Reception will follow the concert.

When the Music Makes Us
7:30 p.m. | Saturday, 5.14.2016 | Eno River UU Fellowship - Durham, NC

Music is a powerful thing. It moves us and shakes us, brings us joy and even commiserates with us. The chorus gets the privilege of making music and sharing it with you, our community. But sometimes, the music makes us. Join us as we sing a selection of music that we've been inspired by.
We are also honored to perform, Power Lines, by Kala Pierson, a commission of GALA Choruses for our upcoming GALA Festival this summer. We are one of 15 women's choruses who will perform this in our home towns before we join in a mass choir in Denver.
The concert is free to the public, with donations accepted at the door.

Take a trip back through the 60s and 70s with the Common Woman Chorus, who perform your favorite hits from the Age of Aquarius. Just imagine what groovy music and fun there will be! The concert is free to the public, with donations accepted at the door. Be there or be square!

Rivers. Mountains. The low and the high. Those wild, inspired, sacred places where we celebrate and mourn, pray and seek answers, cleanse and soothe our weary souls, find peace and hope and redemption. 

On November 15, the chorus and friends will come together to sing rowdy, joyful, and reverent songs that praise and celebrate these wild, sacred places.

Because, sometimes, you have to take the long view. Because, during seasons of unending rain and legislative missteps and trampled civil liberties and economic meanness, we lift EVERY voice and sing. Songs that rekindle our hope and gird our resolve. Songs that remind us of the possibility of building a more perfect union. Songs that reside in us. Unite us. And inspire us to action. Never turning back. Never turning back. . . .
